For several months, negotiations with Google took place to integrate Liburnija’s city and county public transport services into Google Maps. In the end, the negotiations concluded successfully, and as of Sunday, this service is available.
What exactly this means for local residents and public transport users was explained by Slobodan Erslan, Director of Liburnija.
“It means that Liburnija’s city and suburban public transport is now integrated into Google Maps. For example, when you enter a route, say from Vir to Zadar, you have the public transport option, and there you’ll find our timetable. It offers options just like anywhere else in the world – possible transfers, line arrival times, and all the rest,” Erslan said.

He emphasized that this is a major step forward, both for the transport company and for all users.
“We’ve been working on this quietly for several months. Unfortunately, we couldn’t move faster because of the procedures, as Google verifies everything, then requires some minor corrections, and so on. In short, it finally became operational on Sunday. This was one of the more important projects for me, especially since there had been some criticism, particularly before the elections, in a negative context. Unfortunately, it couldn’t have been done earlier – that’s just how the procedure works, and it required intensive work,” Erslan stated.
